Chemical Peel

Chemical peel is a safe and effective method for refreshing the skin. It is an ideal treatment for removing fine lines, signs of aging, pigment spots, acne or post-acne scars.

Chemical peeling is the application to the skin of one or more chemical / enzymatic agents that produce a controlled exfoliation of the skin, causing deep exfoliation. Regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than old skin. This procedure removes skin imperfections leading to a much improved skin texture. As part of the healing process, new, healthier layers of skin are produced.

During the procedure, a solution based on a chemical formula is applied to the skin, and the top layer with imperfections is removed, leaving a beautiful and healthy skin on the surface.

Chemical peeling usually treats pigment spots (melasma, sun spots), some forms of acne, or post-acne scars, but also other types of scars. Improves the appearance of the skin, has lifting effects, reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Chemical peeling can be combined with laser treatments, microdermabrasion or injectable treatments to get the best result, depending on your needs.

What are the expectations after the chemical peel treatment?

Depending on the type of chemical peel, a similar reaction to sunburn occurs. The superficial peeling usually creates a redness followed by a flaking that lasts up to 2 days. Medium or deep peeling can create a redness with a flaking that can last up to 3-4 days. It is important to avoid sun exposure after a peel, because the new skin is more fragile and susceptible to sunlight.

After only one treatment, the skin will be bright, the pigment spots diminished, the expression wrinkles eliminated, the post-acne spots reduced, and the deep wrinkles much less visible.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects vary depending on the complexity of the procedure, from mild redness to thermal effects, mild burning of the skin. Clients who require a superficial peel can continue their activity immediately after the procedure. Those who need a medium or deep peel may need a few days to recover their skin.

How many chemical peeling treatments do I need?

Usually, surface peels are repeated once every 2-3 weeks, requiring 3-4 sessions for visible and lasting results. For deeper peels, a set of sessions can be established for optimal results.

Chemicals used in chemical peels

  • Glycolic and lactic acid – with exfoliating and lighting effect;
  • Acto-Zyme – is an enzyme and a natural peeling agent that has a stable proteolytic activity, favored and controlled by the acidic pH of the skin. Reduces the thickening of the keratin layer and, in combination with glycolic acid and lactic acid, exfoliates deeply;
  • Phytic acid – kerotolytic effect that exfoliates and reduces skin hyperplasia, stimulates the regeneration of skin cells – a process that slows down with age;
  • Collagen peptides – stimulate skin elasticity, deep hydration and smoothing wrinkles;
  • Zinc PCA (pyrrolidone carboxylic acid) – moisturizes the skin, regulates sebum production, has an antioxidant effect and acts, along with vitamin A, to regenerate and heal the skin.
